FAQs

What does the HRA do?

The Hutchinson HRA is a community resource that focuses on helping residents update and maintain their homes through a variety of programs.

The HRA also distributes a yearly apartment guide and senior housing guide for community members to use when searching for a new apartment.

Who is the HRA able to assist?

In order to qualify for programs administered by the HRA, recipients must live with in Hutchinson city limits, be a homeowner and meet income requirements based on number of people residing within the household.

Each program has an individual set of requirements, please check our programs page to see if you qualify.

What does the HRA not do?

The Hutchinson HRA does not provide services for rental assistance.  Please contact:

Why?

The Hutchinson HRA will advocate for safe, affordable housing and encourage collaboration with the other agencies and the private sector to meet community housing needs.

Where is the HRA located?

The HRA office is located at Hutchinson City Center, 111 Hassan ST SE, Hutchinson, MN 55350.

Do you know of an apartment that takes dogs?

The annual Hutchinson Apartment Guide does list some apartments that allow dogs; however, you will have to call the apartment directly to see if there is a vacancy.

Do you have the Homestretch class schedule?

The Homestretch homebuyer training class is offered through the Home Ownership Center. Click here to search for a workshop to attend  or take an interactive online homebuyer education course.

What is affordable housing?

A common benchmark of affordable housing is paying no more than 30% of a household’s gross income for rent or a house payment (PTI). The table below provides examples of what this benchmark looks like for various hourly rates and incomes.
